Avoid the pitfalls

Download our "How to Identify a Good Dog Breeder" [PDF] checklist and take it with you as you visit different breeders. If the breeder you're working with doesn't meet all of the minimum criteria listed, The Humane Society of the United States advises you to walk away. Remember, your dog will likely live 10 to 20 years, so it's well worth investing some time now to be sure you're working with a reputable breeder who breeds healthy, happy dogs and keeps them in clean and humane conditions.

  1. We have a now 3yr old Schnauzer (Heidi) we bought from Cathy. When Cathy called to say our new dog baby was born, we were truly excited! We were so impressed with Cathy right from the beginning, as she would call us with updates, and she e-mailed pictures of Heidi frequently. She let us know when Heidi had her first visit to the vet, and how everything went.
When Heidi was old enough to come home with us and we went to pick her up, we were immediately impressed with what we saw. All the Schnauzers there were so obviously happy, well cared for, and healthy! Everything was immaculate inside and out.
When we took Heidi for her visit with our vet, we were told that it was obvious that Heidi had come from an excellent breeder...one very healthy, happy (she loves EVERYONE, even our cats) little doggie. The vet also got a kick our of the "grown up Schnauzer" grooming on such a little thing!
When we decide to add another fur baby to our family, we will be calling Cathy once again. We would not consider going anywhere else!

  2. Dear Cathy: Last night I was looking on your site to see when the next puppies would be arriving and saw your write up on the internet scandal. Boy, I hate to hear of anyone doing this to such a fine person and the way you run your business. For me, you delivered exactly what I had expected, the finest bred puppy available. He is healthy, intelligent and beautiful! I contribute all of that to the way you breed your schnauzers. In fact, I was even considering a play mate for Jackson and wouldn't even think of getting another puppy from someone else. Please don't stop doing what you do...everyone of your customers would be disappointed if we couldn't see the next "little bundles of joy" being born. I wish you well with your battle with this scandal. Please let me know if you need a testimonial about my experience. Jackson and I will be more than happy to accommodate anything you need. Jackson will strut his stuff and there will be nobody that can deny his strong heritage!

  3. Hey Cathy as a fellow breeder, I would like to say....thank you. Once I came across your name (even never buying one of your pups) I was floored and went straight to your website. I am so glad that you posted what was going on and what you have done to try and stop this horrible slander. Keep your head up as I am sure it will all go away soon enough. I would love to put something up on my site about what is going on, if you want to write something up on it.
